Our Mission

Peninsula Planning Group’s mission is to facilitate critical thinking and communication across disciplines that affect the built environment. We believe that the solutions to our communities’ vexing problems are best solved when academics and practitioners are engaged in an ongoing dialogue, regularly comparing what ought to be, or what could be, against what is.

Our organization’s task, therefore, is to host these conversations through a variety of mediums: in-person discussions, online discussion board threads, recorded conversations, essay contributions and reviews of the academic literature. While our background is primarily in the field of Urban & Regional Planning, we seek knowledge from all who participate in the formation of the built environment, including Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Management, Natural Resources Management, Political Theory, Public Administration and Civil Engineering.

By viewing the built environment from the perspectives of different disciplines and organizational structures, we hope to find truth and consensus on an ideal future for Michigan’s communities.
